journal girls – classroom now open!

Creating art in a beautiful journal is so enriching to your soul, and even better when you have lovingly hand crafted that journal yourself.   This class focuses on not only the adorable girls we bring to life in our journal, but we also make the journal ourselves from an old book.  Altered books are so enjoyable to make, and the history and parts of yourself that you put into yours make it so unique and special.  This class includes 5 hours of video, it is jam packed with techniques and details!

The cost for this class is $54 US.

This class is in two parts, first we make our journal, then we work within it and create our five girls 🙂  Watersoluble media is such a pleasure to work with, you can be free and loose, not worry about ‘mistakes’ as it is so easy to move and change things by adding just a bit more water!

In the beginning of this class we use an old book along with fabric and ephemera to create our journal.  We use eyelets and fabric/ribbon to make the closure, and we prepare our inside pages ready for our artwork.  We also create some loose pages, that simply sit snugly inside the book.

Next is a short video on what types of watersoluble media you can use to create your girls, and I demonstrate the difference in each one and the various ways they behave.  I use gouache in this class, but I also talk about Watercolours, Inktense and Hydrus liquid watercolour.  Any of these products will work for these lessons.

Practice sketches are a really great way to improve your drawing skills, and I have included a short little video on how you can use these in your art.  Plus we do a few of these small drawings that we then use as our reference pictures for the five girls we will create inside our journal.

In the final part of the class we create our five girls using our watersoluble media.  These are simple drawings with easy to use techniques that you will find easy to follow along with.  This is about having fun with our girls and see what evolves.  Each one has her own personality, and yours will too 🙂

This class includes around 5 hours of video and a step by step pdf document of the process we follow.

This is an open ended workshop with no expiration date.  Plus all the videos are downloadable and yours to keep!

Who is this class for?

This is a beginners to intermediate class incorporating basic mixed media and watercolour techniques.   You will gain access to 5 hours of video in which I walk you through various mixed media, collage and watercolour techniques.

You will have access to my combined private FACEBOOK GROUP with others that are also taking my classes to share your work and get feedback.

Toni is one of the best and most creative teachers that I have every had. Her instructions are clear, concise, well thought out and every instructional step allows you to grow as an artist. She is always so very, very positive with her feedback, which gives you the confidence to take more risks. I can honestly say that I have never had a better teacher and highly recommend taking her classes.
