21 secrets – tell your story

21 SECRETS is an online workshop that comes out twice a year with a diverse and talented collective of artists sharing their secrets to art journaling and mixed media art.

This edition “Tell Your Story“, focuses on the many ways we can express, understand, heal, and honor our life narratives through art journaling and mixed media.

My art journal lesson for 21 secrets is called

“at the heart of you”

We all have an outer story and an inner story.  This sacred inner story is more than just the events and circumstances that make up our lives, it calls to the heart of us, who we truly are.  But who is that inner you? And how do you coax your deepest hidden longings, desires, even fears, to pour forth into your creative process and onto those blank journal pages?  Where does that voice come from?  It comes from the heart of you.

But what if you are “no good at writing” …like me.  I have struggled with the process to communicate onto the page my inner life, but I am finding my way.   In this workshop I will share with you how I connect to my inner self, my divine higher self and how it shares it’s wisdom with me.    We will use simple techniques to inquire within and nudge our inner self to begin to reveal our story…our inner story, the one at the heart of you.

We will explore our inner self by using some basic skills and techniques that involve writing with our non-dominant hand – and it is fun, and scary and a bit weird too ….but I hope you will take to it and get from it as much as I have.

I’ve been working this year on coming out of my shell…too many years as a graphic artist attached to a computer. Mixed media art and journaling has been the best thing I have done for myself in years.
