This bundle is a selection of 2 lessons that I filmed as a guest teacher in 2 online workshops in 2021 and 2022. I bring them to you now as a special bundle of mixed media joy!
The two lessons are as follows:
Wallflower (filmed for Kaleidoscope 2022)
“Wallflower” is created in a journal, this lesson includes creating multiple simple short face sketches on thin paper as practice (see below). We will then adhere one of these in our journal as a base to create our face. This is a wonderful way to practice different facial proportions and expressions. The patterning in this lesson is inspired by William Morris and his beautiful creations.
She lost herself (filmed for Life Book 2021)
In “She Lost Herself” we will use watercolour on our girls face to create depth and feeling. We use loose scribbly lines to create character and spontaneity in our artwork.
Each lesson is a stand alone lesson so they can be done in any order, and are full and complete. You will learn how to use graphite to create simple face drawings that can then be embellished with shading or watercolour. We’ll add collage and patterns to create 2 unique artworks that are full of charm.
This is an open ended workshop with no expiration date. Plus all the videos are downloadable and yours to keep!
Who is this class for?
This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate level artists. The class incorporates basic collage techniques with simple sketching. It is a work at your own pace class. You will gain access to around 1.5 hours of video in which I walk you through each step of the projects.
You will have access to my combined private FACEBOOK GROUP with others that are also taking my classes to share your work and get feedback.

What supplies will I need for the lessons?
Please use what you already have in your collection. The items below are what I have used in this class.
Wallflower supplies
- Paper or journal – approx. 10×8 inches
- Tracing, or thin, paper
- Liquitex Matte Gel & large flat brush
- Plastic scraper or old credit card
- Watercolour brush – round medium/ small
- 2b graphite pencil – I use Mechanical pencil size 0.9
- 8b graphite pencil – I use Mars Lumograph Black
- Watercolour paint – red – I use Sennelier Carmine
- Posca pens – size 3m – light pink and dark red
She lost herself supplies
- Watercolour paper
- Watercolour brushes – round medium/large sized quill or similar
- Watercolours – raw umber, sepia
- White gouache
- India ink in bold colours
- 2b & 8b graphite pencil
- Watersoluble graphite pencil
- Glue stick
- Collage papers
- Gold Leaf and glue
- White pen – posca or signo
- Collage poetry or words
