Description

Do you want to create loose, free flowing artworks?  Little quick drawings, that are fun and easy to do?  To relax and enjoy the process, instead of worrying about every little detail?  Then this is the class for you!   We use simple pen and watercolour techniques to create 4 lovely ladies using messy, wobbly and wonky lines and simple watercolours.  This class is all about staying loose 🙂

The cost for this class is $44 US.

This class features these 4 lovelies.  I show you how I create MY STYLE of watercolour, which is loose and very much intuitive.  This is not a class that is focused on all the technicalities of traditional watercolour, these are simple little drawings that feature basic watercolour techniques – anyone can do this – it’s simple and uncomplicated.

Our ladies are quirky and full of character.  We include a couple of birds and some flowers to enhance our pieces. The purpose of these lessons is to gain confidence in loose, quick, and what I call “wobbly and wonky” drawings.

You will watch the four complete project’s from start to finish, step by step, as I create these ladies.  I discuss choosing colour combinations, leaving white space and using loose penwork.

I create 3 of the lessons on watercolour paper which I adhere to a stiff substrate (you do not have to do this, refer to supply list below).  Our 4th lesson is done on a stretched canvas, she is ready to hang or display.  You can also do all of these lessons in a watercolour journal if you choose, or all on canvas!

Who is this class for?

This is a beginners to intermediate class incorporating basic watercolour and simple drawing techniques.  It is a work at your own pace class.  You will gain access to around 3 hours of video in which I walk you through each step of the projects.

This is an open ended workshop with no expiration date.  Plus all the videos are downloadable and yours to keep!

You will have access to the private FACEBOOK GROUP with others that are also taking my classes, to share your work and get feedback.

I’m so glad that I found this amazing artist and teacher! Toni Burt makes learning to create art clear, fun and enjoyable. She helps you to not feel intimidated. Toni always responds to requests for help or feedback.  All of her support makes the on-line learning experience feel so personal and is deeply appreciated. I look forward to learning more from Toni.

What supplies will I need for the class?

Please use what you already have in your collection.   The items below are what I have used in this class.

  • Assorted  watercolour paints (tubes or pans)
  • Large round watercolour brush – I use this type in size 18
  • Black fineline pen, I use Staedtler Pigment Liner size 0.5, 1.0 and 1.2.  Other brands available are Sakura Pigma Micron and Artline Drawing System.
  • Watercolour paper A4 size cut in half lengthwise – I use cold press paper 300gsm or 225gsm – you can use any kind or size you prefer however a smooth surface works best (if your paper has a rough surface, turn it over, often the back is smoother and works just as well – this is what I often do).
  • 4×12″ stretched canvas (optional for lesson 4)
  • paper towel

Optional Items – I show you how to mount your watercolour paper on a firm substrate, you can choose to do this or just work straight on your paper without any backing, or even in a journal.

  • Gel medium (matte or gloss will work)
  • brayer – large
  • large brush for gel medium
  • substrate to glue paper too – I use foam core board, timber panel, or stretched canvas, any of these will work.
